Senior Wrestler Jacob Schweigert Presented with Key to the City

At the recent Wrestling Sports Banquet, Mayor Brian Keim made a surprise appearance to recognize senior Jacob Schweigert with one of the city’s highest honors—naming him Honorary Mayor of Ste. Genevieve and presenting him with a Key to the City.

Jacob Schweigert, a dominant force in the heavyweight division, capped off his senior season with a state championship—finishing the year undefeated at 48-0. However, it was his unwavering commitment, leadership, and the inspiration he provided to teammates and the community that led to this rare civic recognition.

“This isn’t just about winning a title,” Mayor Keim said. “Jacob embodies the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication—qualities that define the best of Ste. Genevieve. He has inspired not only his team but our entire community.”

With a career record of 158-13, Schweigert has left a lasting legacy in Ste. Genevieve wrestling, but his impact goes beyond the mat. As Honorary Mayor, he will represent the city at a special event celebrating his achievements and serving as a role model for future generations.
