French II Students Visit Holocaust Museum, Hear Survivor’s Story

On March 17, French II students from Ste. Genevieve High School visited the Kaplan-Feldman Holocaust Museum in St. Louis as part of their studies on France’s role during World War II. During the tour, students had the powerful opportunity to hear from Holocaust survivor Rachel Miller, whose experiences directly connected to their recent unit on La Rafle du Vel d'Hiv, the mass round-up of Jews in Paris on July 16, 1942.

Following the museum visit, students immersed themselves in French culture at La Bonne Bouchée, a French café, restaurant and pastry shop in Creve Coeur. There, they enjoyed lunch, explored a variety of pastries and observed crepes being made in the newly opened crêperie café.

This hands-on experience deepened students’ understanding of history while allowing them to engage with French culture in a meaningful way.
