We are excited to announce that Coach Brian Jett has recently been recognized as the first recipient of Ste. Genevieve High School’s Dragons of Honor Award! His family, SG R-II administrators and staff orchestrated a surprise to share congratulations.
In attendance were his wife, Dina Jett; and his sons, David and Daniel Vaeth. SGHS staff—some of them former runners— also attended to show their support and congratulations! Staff present included: teachers Kenny Rapp and Jessica Harlow, SGHS Principal John Boyd, Jr., Library Media Coordinator Carrie Staffen, Counselor Russ Toombs, Athletic Director Dr. Jeff Nix and SG R-II Superintendent Dr. Paul Taylor.
Coach Jett has made a lasting impact on students at SGHS and SGMS through his leadership, dedication and support. In 1995, he volunteered to start the cross country program at Ste. Genevieve, launching a career of inspiring students to achieve success through hard work. Coach Jett has guided countless athletes, including numerous college scholarship recipients and a professional runner. Over his career, Brian’s teams have achieved incredible success, earning seven state titles—one in track and six in girls’ cross country—and producing 158 All-State athletes. He has been named Coach of the Year seven times by the Missouri Track & Cross Country Coaches Association and was recognized as Sectional Coach of the Year by the National Federation High School Coaches Association. On Sept. 17, 2024, his lifelong contributions were celebrated with his induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame.

The Ste. Genevieve High School Dragons of Honor Award nominees must have: made a significant contribution to the success and accomplishments of the Ste. Genevieve County R-II School District, and their nomination must be based upon the following qualifications:
